How long does the procedure last?

LASIK generally takes about 10-15 minutes per eye. The day of surgery you are here for about 1½ hours. Your doctor will spend time talking with you before the surgery as well as after, answering any last minute questions and addressing any concerns you may have.

Is LASIK right for me?

We can tell you if you are a candidate for LASIK, but YOU are the only one who can decide whether LASIK is right for you. Dr. Johnson and Dr. Deitch are here to discuss ALL of your refractive correction options, and will explain, in detail, the possible risks associated with refractive surgery.  We will provide you with the necessary information to help you make an informed decision whether LASIK is right for you.

When will I be able to see?

Most people notice a dramatic difference the very next day. However, occasionally vision will fluctuate for up to a month. Everyone heals differently and vision will stabilize at different rates. Based on your individual case, Dr. Johnson and Dr. Deitch will be able to provide you with a more accurate time line.

What type of laser do you use?

We use the VISX Star S-4 CustomVue Laser with active track and wavefront technology. This state-of-the-art laser has proven to have superior results. The eye tracker precisely follows tiny eye movements throughout the procedure so the laser delivers each pulse exactly where it is needed, resulting in an extremely smooth ablation. Should the eye move outside of the treatment area, the laser will automatically shut down. This allows for exceptional visual results.

What are the restrictions after the surgery?

On the day of surgery, we ask you to go home and keep your eyes closed as much as possible for the remander of the day.  This will speed the healing process.  You should rest your eyes for 1-2 days, minimizing eyestrain.  For the next few days you should restrict your time looking at a computer screen, watching television, or reading, as these activities can cause the corneas to become dry. For one week after the procedure you should avoid getting water in your eyes.  In the shower, make sure the water drips down the back of your head. When washing your face, use a washcloth rather than splashing water directly onto your face.  You should not swim for two weeks.  Also, women may not wear eye make-up for the first week after the procedure.

Do you offer financing?

We offer financing through Care Credit, with 3, 6, 12, and 18 month interest free financing options, or installment loan financing for up to 60 months with payments as low as $98.00 per month.

  • No initial payment
  • Low, fixed rates
  • No prepayment penalty
